View original imageThe Chungnam Provincial Council announced on June 9 that it has given advance notice of legislation for the "Ordinance on the Training and Support of Foreign Caregivers in Chungcheongnam-do," which was sponsored by Assemblywoman Shin Sunok (Proportional, People Power Party).
The core purpose of the ordinance is to secure a stable caregiving workforce in order to contribute to the enhancement of residents' welfare and the improvement of elderly welfare.
The main points include: ▲ the governor's responsibilities for the training and support of foreign caregivers; ▲ the establishment and implementation of support plans; and ▲ support projects for the education and promotion of foreign caregivers.
Assemblywoman Shin stated, "With the rapid aging of the population, the shortage of caregiving personnel has emerged as a social issue, and foreign caregivers can serve as an important alternative. I hope this ordinance will enhance the sustainability of Chungnam's elderly care system and contribute to the stable settlement of foreign workers."
The ordinance will be submitted for deliberation and resolution at the 359th regular session, which begins on June 10.
