Chungnam Police Form Dedicated Investigation Team for Taean Thermal Power Plant Fatal Accident
A Team of 40 Officers, Including the Head of the Criminal Mobile Unit, Formed
The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency has formed a dedicated investigation team to look into the fatal accident at the Taean Thermal Power Plant.
On June 9, the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced that it had organized a dedicated investigation team of 40 officers, led by the head of the Criminal Mobile Unit.
The investigation team consists of a total of 40 investigators from the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency, including the Safety Accident Task Force, the Forensic Science Division, and the Digital Evidence Analysis Division, with Kim Sanghun, head of the Criminal Mobile Unit, at the center.
The team is currently conducting a thorough investigation and evidence analysis regarding officials from the Taean Thermal Power Plant Headquarters, Korea KPS, and Korea Power O&M.
Going forward, the agency plans to determine the cause of the accident and identify those responsible for safety management as quickly and accurately as possible, using compulsory investigation procedures in accordance with the law if necessary.
Kim, an employee of Korea Power O&M, a subcontractor of Korea KPS, died while working in the machine workshop of the Korea KPS Taean Power Project Office inside the Taean Thermal Power Plant at around 2:30 p.m. on June 2.
