Park Byungkyu, the head of Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju, held a solo protest in front of Gwangju Songjeong Station starting at 7:30 a.m. on June 9, urging Double Star, the major shareholder of Kumho Tire, to take responsible action. Holding a placard demanding "job security for workers and fulfillment of the promise to relocate the factory," he continued his protest for 30 minutes and expressed his protest against Double Star, which has not issued an apology or countermeasures even more than 20 days after the fire occurred.
