Gyeonggi Province Secures 24.2 Billion Won in National Funding for Public Building Green Remodeling
Gyeonggi Province has secured 24.2 billion won in national funding after 23 sites, including libraries and public health centers in 14 cities and counties, were selected as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2025 Public Building Green Remodeling Project'.
The Public Building Green Remodeling Project involves upgrading aging public buildings with low energy performance by reinforcing insulation, installing high-performance windows, replacing heating and cooling systems, and installing renewable energy generation facilities such as solar power. Through these measures, the project aims to maximize the energy efficiency of buildings, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide users with a more comfortable environment. Seventy percent of the total project cost is covered by national funding, while the remaining 30 percent is borne by local governments.
This year, 64 sites from 19 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province applied for the project, and 23 sites in 14 cities and counties were ultimately selected. The total project cost amounts to 34.5 billion won, of which 24.2 billion won will be provided as national funding.
For the projects selected this time, national funding will be distributed starting in June 2025, and once local government budgets are secured in the second half of the year, the projects will commence. The project period runs until the end of December 2026.
