Jangdeok Library in Gwangsan District, Gwangju Ranks First in Regional Public Library Evaluation
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on June 4 that Jangdeok Library ranked first in the 2025 Gwangju Public Library Operations Evaluation.
This evaluation is part of the nationwide public library statistics and operations assessment conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It analyzed the operational performance of the previous year for 20 out of 30 public libraries in Gwangju, excluding 10 libraries.
The evaluation covered a total of eight areas, including budget management, collection expansion, librarian staffing, and spatial organization, comprehensively assessing overall library operations.
Jangdeok Library has been running programs for children from knowledge and information disadvantaged groups for three consecutive years, contributing to bridging the information gap. It also offers nighttime book lending and unmanned reservation services to enhance user convenience. In addition, the library actively responds to various citizen demands for knowledge and culture by providing AI-based book recommendation services and subscription-based streaming content.
