Final Voter Turnout for 21st Presidential Election Hits 79.4%, Highest in 28 Years
The National Election Commission announced that the final voter turnout for the 21st presidential election, held on June 3, was provisionally tallied at 79.4%.
According to the National Election Commission, out of a total of 44,391,871 eligible voters, 35,240,916 participated in the election. This final turnout of 79.4% is the highest in 28 years since the 15th presidential election in 1997, which recorded a turnout of 80.7%.
It is also 2.3 percentage points higher than the final turnout of the previous 20th presidential election, which was 77.1%.
This turnout figure includes the early voting held on May 29 and 30, in which 15,423,607 people participated, accounting for 34.74%, as well as the combined turnout from overseas voting, shipboard voting, and absentee voting.

For reference, voter turnout in previous presidential elections was: 16th - 70.8%, 17th - 63.0%, 18th - 75.8%, 19th - 77.2%, and 20th - 77.1%.
