Park Geun-hye Visits Seomun Market in Daegu, Says "Thank You for the Warm Welcome"
"Kim Moonsoo Told Me That People Wanted to See Me"
Former President Park Geun-hye met with merchants and citizens at Seomun Market in Daegu on May 31, expressing her gratitude by saying, "Thank you so much for welcoming me so warmly."
At around 1:00 p.m. that day, Park visited Seomun Market accompanied by Yu Youngha, Kang Daesik, and Lee Inseon, all members of the People Power Party. This was Park's first public visit to Seomun Market since her impeachment from the presidency in 2017.
Although Park did not make any political statements, her visit is interpreted as an effort to support Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate.
Park said, "I have often thought about the people at Seomun Market," adding, "I always thought I should come and greet you, but I was not able to do so."
She continued, "A few days ago, candidate Kim Moonsoo told me that, during his campaign on Dongseong-ro, many people said they wanted to see me. Hearing that made my heart swell."
