Jeonbuk Province Recruiting 10 Trainees for 'Webtoon Artist Training Program'
Applications Accepted from June 3 to 10
Up to 11.4 Million Won in Creative Support per Person
Jeonbuk Province is recruiting trainees to participate in the "2025 Jeonbuk Webtoon Artist Training Program" in order to revitalize the local webtoon creation ecosystem.
According to the province on May 30, the purpose of this program is to discover webtoon creators in the Jeonbuk region, strengthen their creative capabilities through customized mentoring and professional education, and support them so they can continue stable creative activities.
The program will select 10 participants. Eligible applicants are aspiring or established webtoon artists aged 18 or older who currently reside in Jeonbuk Province. Anyone preparing to create webtoons, regardless of genre such as romance, fantasy, or action, may apply.
Selected trainees will receive a monthly creative support grant of 1.5 million won for seven months, up to a maximum of 10.5 million won. In addition, those chosen as outstanding trainees through the achievement exhibition will receive up to 900,000 won in additional manuscript fees. Each participant can receive a total of up to 11.4 million won in creative support.
Furthermore, a total of 72 hours of professional mentoring will be provided by active webtoon artists and producers, and business matching opportunities will be offered to help participants serialize their webtoons.
Applications will be accepted from June 3 to 3 p.m. on June 10. Applicants must prepare the required documents, including an application form, self-introduction, creative plan, and portfolio, and submit them via email.
Lee Jeongseok, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the provincial government, stated, "Local webtoon creators need opportunities to focus on their work in a stable environment and to advance onto a bigger stage." He added, "We will work with the Jeonbuk Content Convergence Agency to establish a sustainable support system and lay a strong foundation for the development of the webtoon industry."
