After receiving supplies such as trash bags, tongs, and gloves, participants collected litter from the campus and surrounding university district for about two hours starting at 4 p.m.
This volunteer activity was organized to restore the campus and surrounding environment after the university festival and to reestablish a studious atmosphere.
A Chung-Ang University official said, "Many members voluntarily participated, sharing the purpose of practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)."
Earlier, during the festival held on May 21 and 22, a flea market booth was operated to provide recycling opportunities and reduce waste.
The booth collected low-utility items from homes and offices donated by university members.
A total of about 800 types of items were gathered for free sharing and sale at the event. All proceeds will be used as funds to improve student welfare.
Park Kisuk, head of the General Affairs Office, said, "Chung-Ang University continues to carry out various volunteer activities every year to practice ESG and SDGs management," adding, "We will continue to make steady efforts to improve the educational environment for our members and to achieve sustainable coexistence with the local community."
