Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Holds This Year's Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ESG Council
The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency held the '2025 Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ESG Council' at BEXCO in Haeundae, Busan, on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 28.

View original imageThe Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ESG Council was established to build a collaborative ESG management model between the region's public and private sectors, with the aim of reducing serious accidents in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam area, encouraging autonomous industrial accident prevention activities, and promoting a culture of safety.
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. E (Environmental) refers to efforts toward carbon neutrality and minimizing environmental impact. S (Social) means strengthening responsibilities and roles in industrial safety and health. G (Governance) involves enhancing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
This council meeting was attended by 14 member organizations, including Sangheon Jeon, Director of Business Planning at the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Chairman Shinguen Song, a professor at Changwon National University, and Jongdeuk Jeong, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters. The agenda included ▲ presentations of outstanding ESG management cases and ▲ an open discussion, aiming to create an effective venue for mutual communication among members to prevent industrial accidents in the region.
The 14 member organizations are: Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Changwon National University, Dongguk CM, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, S-OIL, LG Electronics, GS Engineering & Construction, Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam Headquarters, Hanwha Solutions Chemical, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean, Hyundai Wia, and Hyundai Motor Company.

Sangheon Jeon, Director of Business Planning, said, "We will continue to develop the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam ESG Council, which was launched in 2023, so that the council can become a key pillar in sharing and communicating the direction of safety and health policies and in preventing industrial accidents."
