Ulju-gun to Host 'Presidential Cup National Team Taekwondo Championship' with 1,700 Participants, Korea's Largest Event
From July 5 to 11 at Ulju Sports Complex
Ulsan Ulju-gun will host the 60th Presidential Cup National Team Taekwondo Championship at the Ulju Sports Complex for seven days, from July 5 to July 11.
This tournament is organized by the Korea Taekwondo Association and co-hosted by the Ulju-gun Sports Council and the Ulju-gun Taekwondo Association. Since its inaugural event at Jangchung Gymnasium in 1966, this competition has reached its 60th edition this year, solidifying its status as the longest-running Taekwondo tournament in the country.
In particular, the Ulju Sports Complex, which opened in October last year, is set to host its largest sporting event since opening with this championship. This is expected to significantly strengthen Ulju-gun's sports marketing efforts and revitalize the local economy.
According to registration results as of May 19, a total of 1,700 athletes will participate in the tournament. Including officials, coaches, and parents, approximately 8,000 people are expected to visit Ulju-gun. The competition will be divided into 10 weight classes for high school divisions and 8 weight classes each for university and general divisions, with male and female athletes competing in a single-elimination tournament format by weight class.
To ensure smooth tournament operations, Ulju-gun plans to provide comprehensive administrative support, including improving the environment around the venue, cracking down on illegal parking, and conducting intensive inspections of local restaurants and lodging establishments.
