Proactive Administration Shines
Focusing on Tangible Benefits for Residents
Gangbuk District in Seoul has selected five “Outstanding Proactive Public Officials” for the second half of 2024. This selection system aims to spread a culture of proactive administration within the organization and to produce administrative outcomes that residents can directly experience.
The five outstanding officials selected this time include one recipient of the Grand Prize, two for Excellence, and two for Encouragement. The Grand Prize was awarded to Kim Imseon, an officer in the Construction Management Division. Kim persuaded 19 businesses that had been using river land as private property for nearly 60 years to voluntarily demolish their structures, thereby helping to restore the public nature of the Insucheon river area.
The Excellence Awards went to Ahn Jinggi from the Local Economy Division, who promoted the establishment of the Gangbuk Fashion Platform, and Lee Yuntaek from the Welfare Division, recognized for protecting the rights of vulnerable groups and addressing welfare blind spots. The Encouragement Awards were given to Kim Seonggu from the Disaster and Safety Division, for operating cooling centers and distributing ice water during heat waves, and Lee Yesul from the Parks and Green Spaces Division, for operating the Solbat Green Park water playground and revitalizing the park.
