Gijang County Jeonggwan-eup Runs "Challenge Outside the Home" to Support Social Networks for Single-Person Households
Daily Necessities and Gift Certificates Provided for Participating in Outdoor Activities
Aiming to Alleviate Feelings of Isolation
Jeonggwan-eup in Gijang County, Busan, operated the "Challenge Outside the Home" program to alleviate emotional isolation among single-person households and to help them build social networks.
This program targeted single-person households with a high degree of isolation. Participants who completed a total of three outdoor activities?such as walking in a park, visiting public institutions, and undergoing health checks at the administrative welfare center?were provided with daily necessities and gift certificates.
Jeonggwan-eup focused on preventing depression and social isolation among single-person households through this initiative, as well as encouraging their participation in everyday social activities.
The response from participants has also been positive. One participant said, "Since I live alone, I used to stay at home all the time, but this opportunity allowed me to explore various places in Jeonggwan and helped me refresh my mood. I am planning to develop a habit of taking daily walks from now on."
