Wando County to Invest 340 Million Won in 3D Restoration of "Seyeonjeong"
Business Agreement Signed with Korea Culture Information Service Agency for "Cultural Data Construction"
Wando County announced on May 26 that it had signed a business agreement with the Korea Culture Information Service Agency on May 22 for the "2025 New Technology-Based Cultural Data Construction Project."
This project, overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and carried out by the Korea Culture Information Service Agency, is part of a national digitalization initiative for cultural assets. Its core goal is to build and open-source foundational cultural data that can be used with virtual and convergence technologies such as extended reality (XR), mixed reality (MR), and artificial intelligence (AI).

The plan is to create high-quality, immersive 3D data of buildings, vegetation, and terrain to enhance both digital preservation and industrial utilization of cultural heritage.
Seyeonjeong is a retreat garden created by the mid-Joseon era scholar Kosan Yoon Seondo. It consists of a pond, stream, stage spaces such as Dongdae and Seodae, scenic spots like Chilam and Satouam, and stone water facilities such as Panseokbo. In the past, it served as an artistic space where music, dance, poetry, and recitation came together, and it is a historically significant site where Yoon Seondo's masterpiece "Eobusasiga" was performed.
The county plans to precisely restore the site's cultural, historical, and natural elements in digital form, so that the data can also be used for AI training. Additionally, the data will be converted into modules suitable for a range of industries, including gaming, film, advertising, and education, and will be made freely available on the digital cultural resources platform. Both Korean and English explanatory materials will be provided.
County Governor Shin Woochul stated, "Going forward, we will continue to enhance the value of our region's precious history and culture by integrating it with fourth industrial revolution technologies, and we will take the lead in creating a digital cultural environment that all residents can enjoy."
