"Get 70% of Your Book Price Back at Local Bookstores"…Yeongcheon Offers Refunds for Up to Two Books Per Month
The Yeongcheon Lifelong Learning Center (Director Kim Mihee) will launch the "Local Bookstore Purchase Refund Program" starting June 1, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of local bookstores and promote a culture of reading.
Under this program, Yeongcheon residents who purchase books at local bookstores and return them to the library within eight weeks will receive a refund of approximately 70% of the book price in Yeongcheon Love Gift Certificates. Applications can be submitted through the Yeongcheon City Library website.
Residents of Yeongcheon aged 14 or older who purchase books at one of the three bookstores in Yeongcheon?Samsung Bookstore, School Bookstore, and Yeongcheon Bookstore?can receive a refund of up to 20,000 won per book for books priced at 30,000 won or less.
Each person can apply for up to two books per month (up to 24 books per year). In celebration of the program's first implementation, books purchased between January and April of this year will also be eligible for a retroactive refund if applications are submitted by June 30.
However, refunds will not be issued if the returned books are contaminated or damaged. Workbooks, comic books, dictionaries, and workbooks are also excluded from the refund program.
The returned books will be donated to reading-deprived institutions such as small libraries or used in book exchange events, thereby contributing to building a community reading foundation through the virtuous circulation of books.
An official from the Yeongcheon City Library stated, "We expect this program will not only revitalize local bookstores but also greatly contribute to improving the reading culture among citizens," adding, "We will continue to promote various policies to expand the reading foundation through ongoing cooperation between local bookstores and libraries."
