Icheon City Signs Agreement with Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and SK Hynix to Promote Semiconductor Science Education
Cooperation for Nurturing Talent and the Successful Operation of Icheon Science High School
On May 21, the city of Icheon in Gyeonggi Province signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and SK Hynix at the SK Hynix headquarters to promote semiconductor science education.

View original imageThe signing ceremony was attended by Kim Kyunghee, Mayor of Icheon, Lim Taenghee, Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and Lee Songman, Vice President of SK Hynix. The participating organizations and companies agreed to cooperate in fostering scientific talent in Icheon and in the successful opening and operation of the tentatively named Icheon Science High School, which will specialize in semiconductors.
The agreement also includes specific action plans for each institution to promote semiconductor science education. The city will provide a central space and establish a public-private-academic cooperation system. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will be responsible for planning and implementing a semiconductor-focused curriculum and providing human and administrative support for the opening of the science high school. SK Hynix will support the program by providing instructors for the semiconductor shared school, offering fab tours, and cooperating in specialized semiconductor education.
