Improving Risk Factors in Water Surface Facilities and Equipment
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (headed by Lee Myungjun) announced on May 20 that it will conduct intensive safety inspections of water leisure businesses within its jurisdiction during the "Korea Safety Transformation" period, which runs until June 13, ahead of the peak water leisure season.

The Coast Guard, local governments, Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and members of the public will conduct joint on-site inspections to assess the safety conditions of these businesses and improve any identified risk factors.
The main items to be inspected include: ▲ the safety of mooring facilities and other infrastructure within the water leisure businesses; ▲ compliance with safety registration standards (such as the availability of emergency rescue boats and life jackets); and ▲ the deployment and qualification standards of rescue personnel. The inspections will focus on matters directly related to public safety.
An official from the West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters stated, "We will carry out effective inspections to ensure that water leisure businesses are safe for public use," and added, "If you encounter any dangerous conditions while using these facilities, we encourage you to actively report them through public communication channels such as the Safety Report Center or the National Petition Center."
