Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Joo Kwangdeok) announced on May 19 that it has named Kang Je Sang, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Public Administration at Kyung Hee University, as the designated candidate for the inaugural president of the Namyangju Policy Research Institute, which will serve as a think tank for the city’s policies.

View original imageThis recruitment was conducted through an open call on the city’s official website starting in April. The city reviewed applications and conducted interviews with a total of three candidates before selecting the nominee.
With the screening process now complete, the city plans to make a final decision on the appointment in June, following a personnel hearing by the city council and an approval resolution by the institute’s board of directors.
The president of the Namyangju Policy Research Institute will be a full-time position with a three-year term (renewable), overseeing the overall operations of the institute and its policy research functions.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated, "The Namyangju Policy Research Institute will play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for citizens and advancing the city through high-quality policy research and development," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure the recruitment of excellent personnel through a fair process and the smooth and prompt opening of the institute."

Meanwhile, the city is currently recruiting research fellows and administrative staff for the Namyangju Policy Research Institute, aiming to open the institute in the second half of this year.
