Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center to Expand Medical Cooperation with Mongolia... Additional Telemedicine Center Planned
The Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center is strengthening its medical cooperation with Mongolia, accelerating the expansion of the healthcare network between the two countries.
Since 2022, the center has been operating a telemedicine center at Mongolia’s Fourth Hospital, leading a cross-border cancer care cooperation model.
This year, the center is set to open a second telemedicine center at Allergy Medi Hospital in Ulaanbaatar, aiming to significantly improve local Mongolian cancer patients’ access to medical care.
In January of this year, Chukter Unurjaya, the Mongolian Consul in Busan, made the first official visit to the center in her capacity as consul. From March 27, the center hosted Mongolian medical professionals for an eight-day short-term training program, sharing advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment technologies.
On April 18, Cha Kang-Upgung Jadamba, the newly appointed Mongolian Consul in Busan, visited the center to discuss ways to enhance patient convenience for Mongolian nationals and to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Consul Jadamba requested ongoing exchanges, stating that "Korea’s advanced medical system will make a tangible contribution to improving Mongolia’s medical standards."
On May 13, a delegation of public officials from Bagakhangai District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, visited the center. They toured key departments such as the Department of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and the Cancer Prevention Health Screening Center, expressing keen interest in Korea’s telemedicine operations. The delegation paid particular attention to the telemedicine system and engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation measures to improve access to cancer treatment in Mongolia.
Lee Changhoon, Director of the Medical Institute, stated, "Our exchange with Mongolia is evolving beyond the simple transfer of medical technology into a sustainable cooperation model for developing regional healthcare infrastructure," and added, "We will continue to expand our global medical network through a variety of international cooperation programs tailored to local culture and circumstances."
