Series of Election Poster Vandalism Incidents... Police Tracking Suspects (Comprehensive)
The police have launched an investigation after a series of incidents in which election posters for Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, were damaged in Seoul.
According to the police on May 19, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul began an investigation after receiving a report on May 17 that an election poster attached near Building 3 of Banpo Shopping Town in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, had been damaged.
The Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul is also investigating after receiving a report the previous afternoon that a presidential election poster attached to a wire fence near the College of Veterinary Medicine at Konkuk University Seoul Campus in Hwayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, had been damaged.

According to the Public Official Election Act, anyone who damages election posters or banners without a legitimate reason may be subject to imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 4 million won.
