Yeongnam Regional Offices of Education Gather... Busan Office of Education Hosts Yeongnam Council for Spatial Restructuring Projects
Discussion of Best Practices and Common Challenges
Strengthening Policy Cooperation and Governance
Schools are no longer merely spaces for education. They are evolving into “foundations” where children’s lives and learning are interconnected, as well as future-oriented learning ecosystems.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will hold the “7th Yeongnam Regional Council for Spatial Restructuring Projects” in Busan for two days from May 22 to 23.
This council will bring together around 80 officials responsible for spatial restructuring projects from the five Yeongnam regional offices of education (Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk) to share best practices and common challenges, and to strengthen policy cooperation. The main focus is to explore practical directions and implementation strategies for innovation in school spaces.
During the council, participants will also embark on an “Insight Tour” to visit Bumin Elementary School, Namhang Elementary School, and the Busan Mathematics Culture Center, all of which have completed spatial restructuring projects in Busan. By observing how spatial innovation has been realized in actual school settings, they aim to gain insights that can be applied to their respective offices’ strategies.
In addition to field visits, the program will include keynote lectures by architectural experts, presentations of best practices from city and provincial offices of education, and in-depth discussions on current issues. The event is designed not only for information exchange, but also to strengthen the capabilities of practitioners and foster sustainable collaboration.
