Gyeonggi Province to Conduct Safety Inspections at 33 Residential Development and Public Housing Districts
Gyeonggi Province will conduct an emergency safety inspection of residential development and public housing districts.
On May 19, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that, in order to prevent safety accidents caused by summer typhoons, heavy rain, and heat waves, it will carry out on-site safety inspections of 33 residential development and public housing districts by June 13. The inspections will be conducted together with project operators such as LH and GH, as well as private experts.
The inspection targets include seven residential development districts where construction is underway, such as Pyeongtaek Godeok Internationalization District and Hwaseong Taean 3 District, as well as 26 public housing districts including Suwon Dangsu District, totaling 33 project sites.
The main inspection items include: the operation status of safety management plans and emergency contact systems in preparation for the rainy season; the installation and maintenance condition of drainage facilities; the risk of collapse of cut and fill slopes; disaster-prone factors in river sections; and the provision of rest facilities and cooling supplies to protect workers from heat-related illnesses.
Minor issues identified during the inspection will be corrected immediately on site, while items requiring repair or reinforcement will be managed to ensure completion before heavy rains begin. In particular, the inspection will focus on major disaster risk factors such as slope collapse, poor drainage, soil runoff, and heat stroke.

A Gyeonggi Provincial Government official stated, "According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's summer outlook, both the average temperature and precipitation are expected to be higher than usual," and added, "We will thoroughly manage and prepare in advance by inspecting disaster-prone factors to prevent casualties and safety accidents."
