Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, announced that he would ask the police to show leniency toward the teenage student who damaged his banner in Incheon.
On May 16, Lee wrote on Facebook, "It appears that the student, who is not yet fully aware of the seriousness of public elections, engaged in a moment of misconduct," and added, "I will ask the local police station to look into the circumstances and to show as much leniency as possible."
The Michuhol Police Station in Incheon has booked a teenage male, referred to as A, without detention on suspicion of violating the Public Official Election Act for damaging the campaign banner of Lee Junseok, the Reform New Party's presidential candidate, and is investigating the case.
