This event was organized as a May volunteer program to honor the historical significance of the May 18 Democratic Movement.
This activity went beyond a simple act of remembrance, adding meaning as a communal practice that recalls the noble sacrifices made. In particular, not only the Salgu Volunteer Group, which consists of staff from the headquarters of Gwangju Social Service Institute, but also employees from affiliated facilities participated, taking time to reflect together on the noble history and the value of life in the struggle to protect democracy.
Gwangju Social Service Institute is engaged in a variety of activities to contribute to the practice of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and the spread of social value. In the first half of this year, the institute has been implementing sustainable social contribution through volunteer programs aimed at raising awareness about respect for life and suicide prevention.
President Kim Daesam said, "I hope this activity has served as a meaningful opportunity to connect the spirit of May 18 and our social responsibility," and added, "Gwangju Social Service Institute will continue to work in solidarity with the local community and persistently carry out volunteer activities that realize the values of life and dignity."
