Gyeryong Wins "K-Wellness Brand Grand Prize," Steps Forward as a Wellness City
Highly Praised for Creating Military Culture Tourism Experience Belt
and Building a Military Theme Park
On May 14, the city of Gyeryong in South Chungcheong Province announced that it had received the Grand Prize in the K-Wellness Brand Culture Content category at the "2025 K-Wellness Food & Tourism Fair," held at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
The "K-Wellness Food & Tourism Fair" is a nationwide comprehensive expo held both online and offline, hosted by the Korea Wellness Industry Association and supported by five government ministries, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Well-known influencers such as YouTubers and live commerce show hosts participate, promoting local foods and tourism resources through real-time interaction.
The city was recognized for its high growth potential in the wellness industry through this award.
In particular, the city's major initiatives?such as the creation of a military culture tourism experience belt, the construction of a military theme park, and the development of a city of gardens featuring light and flowers?were highly evaluated for generating synergy with the wellness industry.
Mayor Lee Eungwoo stated, "It is a great honor to receive this award at such a meaningful time when Gyeryong is newly establishing itself as a wellness city," adding, "We will do our utmost to create a wellness environment that both citizens and visitors can enjoy together."
Meanwhile, Gyeryong will operate an exhibition booth for two days, May 14 and 15, during the fair, focusing on promoting its representative tourist attractions, including the "Gyeryong 9 Scenic Spots," local specialty products, and the "Gyeryong Military Culture Festival," which boasts six Korea Festival Content Awards.
