On May 14, Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will operate the lawn square in front of city hall as an open space where people can enjoy culture and relaxation.
The lawn square in front of city hall was created in October last year and covers an area of 2,420 square meters. The city plans to host a variety of events in this space, including lunchtime picnics, charity bazaars to help neighbors, and music performances.

On the 16th, the "Gwangmyeong Hope Market," organized by the Gwangmyeong Hope Sharing Movement Headquarters, will take place. This event was originally held in a small space near Cheolsan Station on Subway Line 7, but the city decided to open the lawn square to the organizers to help spread the culture of supporting neighbors.
On June 7, the Gwangmyeong Municipal Nongak Troupe will hold a traditional music performance titled "Nori:Pan" at the lawn square in front of city hall. For this event, the city plans to eliminate the boundary between the stage and the audience, engaging directly with citizens and showcasing the excellence of traditional music and games such as Sogo-nori, Saja-nori, and Beokku-chum.
The city plans to continue operating the lawn square as an open space by regularly hosting a variety of cultural events, including music, reading, and exhibitions.
