Backing State-of-the-Art Research Facilities
Kia is partnering with the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) to foster local talent and strengthen future mobility capabilities.

View original imageKia India Regional Headquarters announced on the 14th that it had signed an industry-academic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IIT Tirupati on the 9th (local time). This is the first industry-academic cooperation MOU since the establishment of Kia's local subsidiary in India.
IIT is India's premier engineering educational institution, with 23 campuses across the country, including one in Andhra Pradesh, where Kia's Indian plant is located.
From this year until 2029, Kia will provide 350 million rupees (approximately 5.8 billion won) in support to IIT Tirupati over five years. The company plans to pursue a variety of collaborations, including supporting the establishment of educational infrastructure, operating internship programs, launching automotive industry-specialized majors, providing scholarships, promoting joint industry-academic projects, and sponsoring research on sustainable future mobility.
In particular, Kia will support the establishment of a state-of-the-art research space known as the "Makers Laboratory." Kia expects that students will use this space to conceive, design, and develop prototypes for research purposes.
