SKT to Discuss Resuming New Subscriptions After Mid-May
"Increase in Customer Departures,
Unavoidable Costs Until Trust is Restored"
On May 12, during its Q1 earnings conference call, SK Telecom addressed the timing for resuming new subscriptions, stating, "After mid-May, as the supply of USIMs stabilizes, the introduction of USIM reconfiguration, and the simplification of the eSIM replacement process, we expect to be able to smoothly handle the demand for SIM replacements." The company added, "In relation to this, we plan to discuss the resumption of new subscriptions with relevant government ministries."

Regarding the sharp increase in the number of subscribers leaving the company, SKT stated, "It is true that the number of customers who switched to other carriers has increased compared to normal times." The company continued, "Customers are an important asset for the company. We expect that a certain level of cost will be unavoidable in order to restore customer trust."
