Changwon Special City Selected as "Outstanding Institution" in Gyeongnam Transportation Administration Evaluation ... Secures 100 Million Won Incentive
Highly Rated for Transportation Culture Index and Outstanding Transportation Safety Initiatives
Changwon Special City announced on the 12th that it has been selected as an "Outstanding Institution" in the 2025 City and County Transportation Administration Evaluation (based on 2024 performance) organized by Gyeongsangnam-do. As a result, the city received an institutional commendation and secured a special adjustment grant of 100 million won.
Each year, Gyeongsangnam-do evaluates the key transportation policies of cities and counties to promote the spread of advanced transportation culture and to improve residents' transportation convenience, granting awards to outstanding local governments.
This year’s evaluation assessed the 2024 performance of 18 cities and counties in the province. The process included quantitative evaluations across 20 indicators such as the Transportation Culture Index, measures to reduce traffic accidents, convenience of mobility for transportation-vulnerable groups, and surveys of children's school routes. It also involved qualitative assessments of transportation safety initiatives and cooperation in transportation policy.
Changwon received high marks in this evaluation for improvements in the Transportation Culture Index, reduction in traffic accident fatalities, outstanding transportation safety initiatives, and policies to enhance convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups. The city plans to further expand its highly rated transportation policies more efficiently and will allocate the special adjustment grant secured as a reward to additional improvements in transportation safety facilities.
This award follows Changwon’s selection as an outstanding institution in the "Sustainable Transportation City Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in December 2024, demonstrating that Changwon’s transportation policies are recognized as exemplary cases that embody both sustainability and safety.
Lee Jonggeun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, "This achievement is the result of all departments working together to realize transportation welfare that citizens can truly feel," and added, "We will continue to prioritize citizen transportation safety and further strengthen efforts to enhance transportation culture and create a safe transportation environment."
