Gwangyang City Expands Local Tax "Mobile Electronic Notification" Service
Building a Smart Tax System Without Paper Notices
Real-Time Payment Available via KakaoTalk and Naver
Increased Convenience, Lower Delinquency Rates... 500 KRW Tax Credit per Notification
On May 12, Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will expand the implementation of the "Local Tax Mobile Electronic Notification Service" to enhance taxpayer convenience and realize a smart tax administration system.
The mobile electronic notification service is a system that allows taxpayers to receive and pay local tax bills via smartphone apps (KakaoTalk and Naver) instead of traditional paper notices. This enables taxpayers to check notification details in real time, regardless of time or location, making it easier to handle tax payments even amidst busy daily schedules.

The types of taxes eligible for electronic notification applications include the January regular registration license tax (registration), the annual prepayment of automobile tax (reported amount), the June and December automobile tax, the July and September property tax (buildings, land, housing), and the August resident tax. For all tax items except the annual prepayment of automobile tax, a tax credit of 500 KRW per notification is also provided.
The city expects that this expansion of the mobile electronic notification service will not only reduce the budget spent on sending paper notices, but will also have a positive effect on taxpayer convenience and the reduction of local tax delinquency rates.
Lee Kanggi, Head of the Tax Administration Division, stated, "The local tax mobile electronic notification is part of our efforts to realize a taxpayer-centered smart tax administration service," and added, "We hope that many citizens will actively utilize the mobile notification service to enjoy a more convenient tax payment environment."
