Kim Deokil, a member of the Haetteumi Ssireum Team at Ulsan Ulju County Office, was crowned Sobaek Champion at the 'Withus Pharmaceutical 2025 Folk Ssireum Yuseong Oncheon Jangsa Ssireum Tournament' held at the National Hanbat University Gymnasium on May 11.

View original imageIn the Sobaek Champion (under 72kg) final, which was contested in a best-of-five format, Kim Deokil defeated Jeong Jaerim from Incheon City Hall and lifted the bull trophy. With this victory, following his win at the Pyeongchang Odaesan Cheonjangsa Ssireum Tournament held in Pyeongchang County, Gangwon Province last month, he achieved his second championship title of the season.
In the quarterfinals, Kim Deokil beat Jeon Seonggeun from Yeongwol County Office, Gangwon Province, by 2-0, and in the semifinals, he overcame Lee Jooyoung from Taean County Office, South Chungcheong Province, by 2-1 to advance to the champion final.
His opponent in the champion final was Jeong Jaerim from Incheon City Hall, who was making his first appearance in a Sobaek Champion final.
In the first bout, Kim Deokil conceded a point to Jeong Jaerim by deotgeori, but then won three consecutive rounds with deulbaeji, finishing the match 3-1 and securing the championship.
