Yangsan City Accelerates Efforts to Create Safe Workplaces Free from Serious Accidents
Full-Scale Launch of Serious Accident Prevention Consulting and Occupational Safety and Health Guardian Project
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province will invest a total budget of 409.8 million won to launch full-scale initiatives for Serious Accident Prevention Consulting and the Occupational Safety and Health Guardian Project starting in May, aiming to prevent serious accidents at local workplaces.
Beginning with the selection of participating workplaces in May, the city plans to build a safer Yangsan through professional consulting and on-site safety management activities.
Amid growing public concern over serious accidents occurring at industrial sites, the city is implementing this project to establish a proactive prevention system and to strengthen on-site safety management.
The 'Serious Accident Prevention Consulting' will target 11 small- and medium-sized workplaces that are required to establish a safety and health management system. The city is currently conducting the selection process for workplaces to receive consulting support. Selected workplaces will receive customized risk assessments in collaboration with specialized agencies, the creation of safety and health management regulations and manuals, and safety and health education.
The 'Occupational Safety and Health Guardian Project' will also begin in earnest in May, starting with the selection of 30 participating workplaces. In this project, occupational safety and health guardians, comprised of industrial safety and health experts, will visit the selected workplaces to identify and improve hazardous and risky factors, conduct risk assessments, and carry out activities aimed at reducing on-site hazards and raising safety awareness.
