Busan Veterans Office Visits Korean War Veterans' Homes on Parents' Day, Expressing Gratitude with Carnations
The Busan Regional Veterans Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Namil Lee) visited the homes of elderly national merit recipients to express heartfelt gratitude in celebration of Parents' Day.
On May 8, the Busan Regional Veterans Office visited the homes of approximately 520 veterans' families, including Korean War veterans, recipients of military honors, and spouses who live alone. Officials personally pinned carnations symbolizing filial piety on the recipients and delivered a letter of appreciation from Director Namil Lee, along with a handwritten card.
This event was organized not only to deliver gifts, but also to provide emotional comfort to elderly veterans who have difficulty moving due to long-term care needs or chronic illnesses, and to ensure that they do not feel isolated during Family Month. Veterans office welfare officers visited each home in person to offer warm greetings.
Jung, a Korean War veteran, said with a smile, "Thank you for remembering and visiting me. Thanks to the Veterans Office, I don't feel lonely."
Namil Lee, Director of the Busan Regional Veterans Office, stated, "We must always remember that today's Republic of Korea exists thanks to the elderly national merit recipients," and added, "During Family Month in May, we will pay even closer attention to ensure that not a single veterans' family feels left out."
