Yongin City to Create Two Pedestrian-Priority Roads Near Simgok Elementary School in Sanghyeon-dong

A pedestrian-priority road is a type of road designated to give pedestrians priority when it is not possible to separate the sidewalk and roadway on a backstreet. The city plans to complete the construction by June.
The construction will take place along a 400-meter section of Simgok-ro and Sanghyeon-ro near the school. Previously, the city applied for the "Safe Pedestrian Environment Creation Project" to Gyeonggi Province last year, and this year, the road area around 767-1 Sanghyeon-dong was selected as the final project site. Of the total project cost of 200 million won, 50% was secured from the Gyeonggi provincial budget.
Through the construction, the city plans to install stamped pavement markings, road surface signs, and traffic safety signs to indicate the pedestrian-priority road and to encourage vehicles to slow down.
