JCS Chairman Inspects 20th Fighter Wing, Urges Maintenance of Immediate Response Posture
On May 8, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Kim Myungsoo visited an Air Force unit to inspect its readiness posture and urged the troops to maintain an immediate response posture capable of overwhelmingly retaliating against any provocation by the enemy.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chairman Kim visited the 20th Fighter Wing on this day to check the immediate response posture in preparation for various types of enemy provocations, and encouraged the service members performing their duties on site.
After receiving a briefing on the operational situation, Chairman Kim emphasized the importance of "recognizing the evolving enemy threats as seen in the Russia-Ukraine war and maintaining an immediate response posture capable of overwhelmingly retaliating against any enemy provocation." He added, "Every member of the fighter wing should take pride in protecting the lives and property of the people and do their utmost to fulfill their assigned duties at the forefront of defending our airspace."
Chairman Kim also visited the emergency standby room to commend the efforts of pilots, maintenance personnel, and armament specialists. He urged that "skilled pilots and maintenance crews should achieve perfect teamwork to maintain an operational posture ready for immediate sortie," while also stressing the need to respond resolutely and without hesitation to any enemy provocations in the air.
