Jo Wooyoung, who won the gold medal in the men's golf team event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, has secured a chance to win in a major match.
On May 2, at Namseoul Country Club (par 71, 6,747 yards) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, during the second round of the 44th GS Caltex Maekyung Open (total prize money: 1.3 billion won), jointly organized by the Korea Golf Association (KGA) and the Asian Tour, Jo Wooyoung reduced one stroke to move up to the leading group. He recorded one eagle, two birdies, and three bogeys, finishing the round one under par. His interim total was 5-under-par 137, maintaining a strong pace.

In 2023, as an amateur, he claimed his first victory at the Golfzon Open in Jeju, and secured his second win at The Charity Classic last year. Although he was overshadowed by the momentum of Jang Yubin, who shared the Asian Games gold medal with him, Jo Wooyoung managed to finish in the top five five times in six tournaments from October onwards, including one win and two runner-up finishes.
