Seoul Facilities Corporation Expands Mobility Support for the Transportation-Vulnerable
Seoul Facilities Corporation (President: Han Kyungyoung) is introducing an advance reservation system for late-night call taxis for people with disabilities and will significantly expand its Disabled Outing Bus program to strengthen the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable citizens.
The late-night advance reservation system, implemented from May 2, 2025, allows citizens who wish to use the call taxi service for people with disabilities between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on weekdays to make reservations in advance by calling the call center (1588-4388) between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. the previous day. Previously, advance reservations were only available during morning commuting hours. This measure will make it much easier to predict waiting times during late-night hours. For areas outside Seoul, late-night service is available until 3:59 a.m., with up to 15 people able to use the service per day.
In addition, the number of call taxis available for reservation during weekday commuting hours (7:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m.) will be increased from the current 80 to 100. National merit recipients who use wheelchairs will also be included in the advance reservation system.
The number of Outing Companion Buses for people with disabilities, designed to support leisure activities, will be increased from 2 to 3, and the number of Seoul City Tour operations will be doubled from twice a week to four times a week. Various special programs will also be provided, including children's themed courses, holiday cemetery visits, and events commemorating Disability Day. The procedure for people with mental disabilities to use call taxis alone has also been simplified, allowing them to use the service with only supporting documents and without a separate prior application.
Han Kyungyoung, President of Seoul Facilities Corporation, stated, "The introduction of the late-night advance reservation system, the expansion of the Disabled Outing Companion Bus, and the easing of requirements for solo taxi rides for people with mental disabilities are all measures to realize the social value of accompanying the vulnerable," adding, "We will continue to innovate our services to create an environment in which transportation-vulnerable citizens can move conveniently."
