Dongjak-gu to Create 'Seoul Araesupgil' at Boramae Station in Connection with Seoul International Garden Expo
Transforming Unused Spaces into Garden-Style Rest Areas
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Ilha) is transforming an unused space at Boramae Station on Subway Line 7 into a garden-style urban rest area.
The district announced on May 1 that it will create the '2025 Seoul Araesupgil' in an area of approximately 300 square meters on the first basement floor beneath exits 1 and 2 of Boramae Station. This project is being promoted in connection with the '2025 Seoul International Garden Expo,' which opens on May 22 at Boramae Park.

Taking advantage of its location along the route leading to the Boramae Park Garden Expo, the district plans to create a purple flower-filled shelter inspired by a wordplay on 'Boramae,' which means 'young hawk.'
Dongjak-gu has completed the design with a focus on safety and user convenience after consultations with Seoul Metro and Namseoul Light Rail Co., Ltd. Electrical and interior construction began at the end of last month, and the new space will be unveiled to the public on May 22, coinciding with the opening day of the expo.
The '2025 Seoul International Garden Expo' is the largest garden festival in Korea, hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul International Garden Expo Organizing Committee. This year's expo will be held at Boramae Park from May 22 to October 20.
