Sancheong County Reduces Local Taxes for Wildfire Victims Following Special Disaster Zone Designation
This Year's Property and Automobile Taxes, etc.
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on April 30 that it will reduce local taxes for residents affected by wildfires.
This tax reduction follows the designation of the area as a special disaster zone. The reduction applies to this year's property tax and automobile tax imposed on real estate, vehicles, and other assets damaged by the wildfires.
According to the results of investigations by the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) and relevant departments, the regular property tax and automobile tax will be reduced ex officio. For automobile tax that has already been paid, refunds will be provided.
In addition, under the Restriction of Special Local Taxation Act, acquisition tax will be exempted when acquiring buildings or other structures to replace those destroyed or damaged by wildfires, as long as the total floor area does not exceed that of the previous building.
County Governor Lee Seunghwa stated, "We will do our utmost to help residents affected by the wildfires return to their normal lives as quickly as possible."
