for Contributions to Chemical Engineering and Fostering Female Talent
Professor Minyoung Son of Pukyong National University (Department of Energy Chemical Materials Engineering) has been selected as a distinguished contributor in the fields of science, technology, and information and communications, and has been awarded the Order of Science and Technology Merit.

View original imageProfessor Son received the Order of Science and Technology Merit as a distinguished contributor in the field of chemical engineering and life sciences at the 2025 Science and Information and Communications Day ceremony, which was recently held at the Korea Science and Technology Center.
Professor Son is a leading scholar in the fields of molecular separation membranes and coating materials. She has devoted 30 years to industry, education, and research, and has been recognized for her significant contributions to the innovation of materials technology and the training of professionals in Korea through the implementation of large-scale national research projects and programs for fostering female talent in science and engineering.
In particular, she has led research in the field of polymer precision chemical materials, having developed hybrid separation and purification processes using chemically resistant membranes in precision chemical processes, published 74 papers domestically and internationally, and registered 11 patents both in Korea and abroad.
In addition, Professor Son has served as the head of the Southeast Region Female Science and Engineering Talent Development Project, organized by the Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (Chairperson Moon Aeri), as well as the director of the Engineering Education Innovation Center at Pukyong National University. She has overseen initiatives to foster female talent in science and engineering, operating programs for female university students as well as middle and high school girls, and has been recognized for supporting the development of female scientists and engineers in the region and laying the groundwork for their entry into industry.
