SiseonAI "Yuon Robotics Starts AI Robot Automated Packaging System Pilot with Seongju Wolhang Nonghyup APC"
Siseon AI (CU Box)’s robotics subsidiary, UON Robotics, announced on the 15th that it will conduct a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the commercialization of an artificial intelligence (AI) robot automatic packaging system in collaboration with Seongju Wolhang Nonghyup Agricultural Products Distribution Center (APC).
To this end, UON Robotics has completed the construction of its AI robot automatic packaging system at Seongju Wolhang Nonghyup Agricultural Products Distribution Center and has started pilot operations. This marks the first achievement in the robotics business sector following the launch of the subsidiary UON Robotics earlier this year and the recent name change of Siseon AI.
So far, Seongju Wolhang Nonghyup Agricultural Products Distribution Center has proactively led the advancement of agricultural product logistics by introducing automation facilities, serving as a role model for system improvement and enhancement at agricultural product distribution centers nationwide.
Seongju, Gyeongbuk, is a representative Korean region for melons, and through this PoC, UON Robotics successfully implemented an AI robot automatic packaging system for the subsequent packaging process of objects consisting of multiple melons bundled in plastic wrap. The goal is to prove the utility and business viability of AI logistics robot technology that handles irregular objects. Unlike manufactured goods produced and packaged in consistent shapes, applying automation systems to logistics processes handling irregularly shaped products requires high technical capability to measure and control variables arising in each task.
UON Robotics’ AI logistics robot is an automated picking and bin packing system equipped with AI image recognition technology from its parent company, Siseon AI. It incorporates precise recognition technology for irregular objects and sophisticated robot control technology. Accordingly, it is designed to recognize and analyze each object with different shapes, quickly identify orientation, vertices, and center points, and then determine the exact suction points to pick the object accurately.
A company representative explained, "Existing mechanical automation facilities mostly handle large products, inevitably occupying a lot of space in the workplace, and in many cases, new warehouses had to be built for these facilities. Our AI robot automatic packaging system, which applies vision AI technology, is not only functionally superior but also drastically reduces size compared to existing equipment, making it easy to introduce without changing the layout of existing logistics warehouses."
In logistics handling food products such as agricultural goods, worker fatigue from repetitive tasks and relatively harsh working conditions such as night shifts, early mornings, freezing, and refrigeration are known challenges. The company anticipates that AI logistics robots optimized for irregular objects can solve these longstanding issues in food logistics while improving both speed and accuracy of operations.
