Target Detection with Cameras Instead of LiDAR
Drone AI company NearthLab announced on the 11th that it received the '106th IR52 Jang Young-sil Award' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in recognition of the innovation of its vision AI-based flight control technology. The Jang Young-sil Award is an industrial technology award given to companies and research organizations with excellent new technology products and research achievements.
This technology detects targets and generates flight paths using only cameras mounted on drones without expensive LiDAR sensors, and it is a core element forming the foundation of NearthLab's entire product lineup.

Users can perform autonomous flight missions on general commercial drones simply by installing the app, enabling anyone to conduct inspections in a short time without complex equipment or operations, thereby solving the shortage of technical personnel in the energy industry and demonstrating high work efficiency. Additionally, precision inspection tasks that previously required large industrial drones can now be replaced with small commercial drones.
This technology was also recognized at CES 2022, winning the Innovation Award in the 'Mobile Applications & Software' category. Furthermore, it has played a crucial role in business expansion by being applied to NearthLab's self-developed small AI drone 'AiDEN' and high-speed interceptor drone 'KAiDEN.'
