Changwon Special City Raises Limit for Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support
Maximum Support Increased from 300,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW
Changwon City, Gyeongnam Special City, announced on the 10th that it will raise the maximum support amount for the 'Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support Project', which is being implemented to prevent Jeonse fraud and reduce the burden on tenants, from the previous maximum of 300,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW.
This increase in support amount is being implemented in accordance with the revised guidelines of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. For those who enroll in the guarantee after March 31 of this year, the support amount has been raised from the previous maximum of 300,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW. The application method has also been changed so that, in addition to the existing online application method (Gyeongnam Baro Service), applications can now be submitted via Government24 and the HUG Safe Jeonse Portal.
This project was first implemented nationwide as a government policy after Changwon City enacted the "Changwon City Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support Ordinance" in 2019. The project supports the guarantee fees paid when signing up for Jeonse deposit return guarantees with the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HF), and SGI Seoul Guarantee, in order to prevent damage to low-income groups vulnerable to Jeonse fraud.
Eligible applicants are Changwon citizens who meet all of the following conditions: ▷ Jeonse deposit of 300 million KRW or less enrolled in the Jeonse deposit return guarantee ▷ Annual income of 50 million KRW or less for youth, 60 million KRW or less for non-youth, and 75 million KRW or less for newlyweds, and who are homeless tenants.
For online applications, use Gyeongnam Baro Service, Bokjogeum24, or the HUG Safe Jeonse Portal. For in-person applications, visit the Building Permit Division of the district office where the residence is located. For more details regarding the support application, contact the Housing Policy Division.
Park Seongok, Director of Urban Policy, said, "We expect that raising the support for Jeonse deposit return guarantee fees will help protect more low-income groups," and added, "We will continue our efforts to prevent damage from Jeonse fraud in the future."
