The event was attended by over 250 participants, including County Mayor Lee Yongrok, public officials, forestry successors, members of the forestry cooperative, and mountain club members.
During the event, the county demonstrated its commitment to restoring the wildfire-damaged forest and achieving carbon neutrality by planting 1,000 Japanese cypress trees (Hinoki) across a 7,000㎡ area.
The Japanese cypress trees planted in the wildfire-affected area are highly resistant to pests and diseases, have a high phytoncide content, and are effective not only in purifying the air and reducing fine dust but also in promoting mental stability and relieving stress.
Lee Yongrok, Mayor of Hongseong County, said, "Watching the large-scale wildfires that recently occurred in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan brought back painful memories of the wildfire that broke out in Seobu-myeon on April 2, 2023. I believe that if we work together, we can restore healthier forests and a cleaner environment."
