Selected for the Ministry of Education's Public Project
Buk-gu, Gwangju has been selected for the Ministry of Education's "2025 Lifelong Learning City Regional Specialization Project." It is among 11 cities, or the top 5.5%, out of 198 lifelong learning cities nationwide.
According to Buk-gu on the 7th, this selection has secured 30 million KRW in national funding. By adding local funds, a total of 60 million KRW will be used to operate lifelong learning programs for seniors.
The program will target 90 seniors and includes activities such as art experiences (painting and dance), barista training, AI creator workshops, and life skills (woodworking). The district plans to expand the target audience by utilizing the remote class system of "Smart Senior Centers" and to establish a cooperative system with related departments and organizations.
The program will begin in May. Residents who wish to participate can contact the district office's Human Rights Education Division.
District Mayor Moon In said, "This project selection reflects the desire of seniors to continue learning," and added, "We will strive to improve quality of life and expand learning opportunities."
