Flitto to Pilot AI Interpretation and Translation Solution at CU
AI language data specialist Flitto announced on the 3rd that it will pilot its AI-based real-time translation solution, ‘Chat Translation,’ at CU convenience stores operated by BGF Retail.
Chat Translation supports up to 38 languages and combines speech recognition (STT), machine translation (MT), and speech synthesis (TTS) engines. It enables smooth communication between foreign customers and store staff.
The solution has been introduced at five directly managed stores frequently visited by foreigners, including Myeongdong, Hongdae, and Incheon Airport. Stores at Incheon Airport and major tourist spots are specialized outlets where global customers can experience Korean convenience store culture, with visits steadily increasing.
The AI translation function is web-based and integrated into CU store-exclusive devices (PDAs). Store employees can use their existing devices without additional equipment, which is expected to improve work efficiency. The translation engine has been trained with terminology specific to the convenience store industry to provide accurate translation quality.
Starting with collaboration with CU, Flitto plans to expand the application of its solution to various industries. As demand for customized language solutions reflecting industry-specific characteristics grows, the company will continue to develop optimized services tailored to each client.
