Haenam County Launches First "Please Take Care of the Refrigerator for Medical Aid Recipients" Program
Designated Donation Projects of the Hometown Love Donation Program Progress Smoothly
Haenam County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Myung Hyun-gwan) is implementing customized support to improve the health of medical benefit recipients by utilizing designated donations from the Hometown Love Donation Program.
According to the county on the 3rd, the “Medical Benefit Recipients’ Refrigerator, Please” project is a comprehensive medical and welfare support program that provides healthy food ingredients and tailored health consultations to households receiving medical benefits.
In particular, this support is significant because it is funded by donations raised through designated giving in the Hometown Love Donation Program. Designated donations allow donors to directly select and support specific projects to address local issues through the program.
Since November last year, the county has been raising designated donations for the “Medical Benefit Recipients’ Refrigerator, Please” project through the Hometown Love Donation Program. Within just over a month, the project reached its fundraising goal of 12 million won, enabling its full-scale launch this year.
This project focuses on supporting healthy eating habits by providing fresh food ingredients worth 100,000 won per month for six months to about 20 households of medical benefit recipients who face economic difficulties and struggle to maintain balanced nutrition.
Additionally, medical benefit case managers will not only deliver the food ingredients directly but also offer dietary guidance and mental health counseling, aiming to assist with nutrition management, chronic disease prevention, and overall health maintenance.
Last year, the county selected four designated donation projects through the Hometown Love Donation Program: operation of a safety app to prevent solitary deaths, support for shared parenting centers, “Medical Benefit Recipients’ Refrigerator, Please,” and a youth musical for school violence prevention.
Projects such as health management support for medical benefit recipients, operation of the safety app for solitary death prevention, and support for shared parenting centers have achieved their fundraising goals and are now underway. Meanwhile, the youth musical for school violence prevention has raised 18.45 million won out of its 30 million won goal, reaching a 61.5% achievement rate, with designated donations still ongoing.
Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Haenam Hometown Love Donation Program,” and added, “We will continue to faithfully implement the designated donation projects, always remembering the donors’ warm hearts.”
