This communication session was held at the request of the Emergency Measures Committee, which is mainly composed of the Siksadong WeCity Residents' Representative Council Union, and proceeded by sharing the opposition and concerns of local residents regarding the Siksadong data center and explaining the city's position.
The data center has been undergoing consultation procedures with related departments and affiliated organizations since the building permit was submitted in September of last year.
However, nearby residents oppose the construction of the data center citing reasons such as ▲proximity to apartments and elementary schools ▲concerns about noise and heat island effects ▲possible electromagnetic wave exposure due to the installation of high-voltage power lines ▲and residential environment damage caused by green space destruction.
In response, the city takes these residents' concerns and demands seriously and has stated that it will conduct a thorough review within the scope permitted by law.
In particular, the city plans to conduct more in-depth discussions and comprehensive reviews through the Urban Planning Committee and the Architecture Committee, which consist of private experts, going forward.
Additionally, the city explained that if the building permit for the data center meets the legal requirements, it is a mandatory act to grant the permit, but it also expressed its commitment to do its best to resolve the issues residents are concerned about.
