Suncheon National University and Jeonnam Office of Education Achieve Results in Glocal Talent Development Collaboration
Dream Growth Campus, Autonomous Public High Schools, and Specialized High Schools Collaboration
Suncheon National University (President Lee Byungwoon) is attracting attention as its high school-university collaborative education project, promoted in partnership with the Jeollanam-do Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Daejung), is contributing to strengthening the region's educational capacity and nurturing talent.
Since 2022, the two institutions have established and operated the ‘Jeollanam-do Education Cooperation Office,’ implementing a variety of education programs tailored to the region, such as joint curricula for the high school credit system, the Autonomous Public High School 2.0 project, and cooperation with specialized high schools.

This program, as part of the University Support Project for High School Education Contribution, enables the university to directly offer courses that are difficult for individual high schools to provide, thus expanding students’ course choices and offering opportunities for career exploration.
Additionally, through the Autonomous Public High School 2.0 project, Suncheon National University has been operating a linked curriculum with Suncheon High School since the first semester of the 2025 academic year. This semester, a total of 14 courses have been opened for 213 second and third-year students at Suncheon High School, with classes running 10 times until June 19.
By including experiment- and practice-oriented courses such as ‘Basic Agricultural Technology’ and utilizing the university’s advanced equipment and faculty, the program is designed to provide high school students with access to high-level education that is difficult to experience at school.
The operation of such joint curricula is enhancing practical educational connectivity between high schools and universities, and the collaboration with Suncheon High School was selected as an excellent case for the Ministry of Education’s Autonomous Public High School 2.0 initiative.
In addition to Suncheon High School, Suncheon National University has signed MOUs with five general high schools, including Gwangyang High School, Gurye High School, Yeosu High School, and Gangjin High School, and plans to expand programs to further strengthen these partnerships.
Meanwhile, starting in 2025, cooperation with local specialized high schools is also being actively promoted. Suncheon National University has signed agreements with five specialized high schools?Yeosu Information Science High School, Jinseong Girls’ High School, Suncheon Future Science High School, Yeosu Technical High School, and Suncheon Technical High School?and is planning practice-oriented curricula linked to the university’s three key glocalization fields. Through this, the university is providing practical education connected to local industries and establishing an integrated education support system that prepares students for both employment and further studies.
The Jeollanam-do Education Cooperation Office at Suncheon National University stated, “We are focusing on discovering and nurturing outstanding talent in the region through educational cooperation that encompasses both general and specialized high schools,” and added, “We will continue to vitalize regional education based on organic cooperation between high schools and universities and establish a virtuous cycle model where excellent students can advance to local universities.”
