DYETEC Research Institute and Control Union Korea Sign Business Agreement
Response of Textile Companies to Environmental Regulations
DYETEC Institute (President Choi Jaehong), a specialized production technology research institute in the textile sector, and Control Union Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO Kye Seongkyung), a global certification body, are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a cooperative system for supporting sustainable textile certification in the domestic textile industry at the ‘DORNBIRN GFC-ASIA 2025’ event, which will be held on April 4 at the 2nd Exhibition Hall of BEXCO in Busan.
‘CONTROL UNION’ is a global certification and inspection organization established in the Netherlands with over 100 years of history, operating international eco-friendly certification programs in various sectors such as textiles, bioenergy, food, cosmetics, and forestry. In particular, it is one of the certification bodies that issue global certifications required for textile exports, such as GRS, RCS, OCS, and GOTS.
Recently, regulations on chemicals have been strengthened every year in major markets such as the European Union (EU) and the Americas, and the importance of continuity in supply chain management from raw materials to consumers is being highlighted. Accordingly, prompt response to changes in global environmental regulations for textile companies is required.
Through this agreement, DYETEC Institute and Control Union Korea Co., Ltd. plan to promote the establishment of a cooperative system to support certification for textile manufacturing processes and products of domestic companies, standardization and reliability of certification procedures, exchange of information and technology related to changes in international standards and regulations, and joint operation of technology seminars and ESG education programs related to sustainable textile certification.
As the first step of cooperation, Control Union Korea Co., Ltd. opened its Daegu office last March at the Technology Creation Center in Daegu Dyeing Industrial Complex, which is managed by DYETEC Institute under private consignment, to enhance convenience and accessibility for textile companies located in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk and Southeast regions.
Through this memorandum of understanding, DYETEC Institute plans to support the domestic textile industry in proactively responding to global environmental regulations and securing export competitiveness through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s ‘Green & Clean Factory Transition Support Project.’
The ‘Green & Clean Factory Transition Support Project’ has been promoted for six years, starting as a pilot project in 2020 by DYETEC Institute to support small and medium-sized textile manufacturing companies facing difficulties due to strengthened environmental regulations at home and abroad. The project aims to support the sustainable growth of textile companies through assistance for building green & clean factory facilities (facilities for reducing emission of hazardous substances and saving resources), consulting on environmental regulation compliance, and a sustainable textile certification support program.
Choi Jaehong, President of DYETEC Institute, stated, “Through this agreement, we will actively expand support and global cooperation so that domestic textile companies can respond to environmental regulations.”
